Teaching

My teaching experience began in early childhood education with children and families from marginalized communities in the United States and Canada. Having transitioned to teaching adults, in particular graduate students and community development practitioners, from around the world, I recognize four guiding principles that continue to inform my teaching practice.

As an educator, teaching is a signficant and rich site of learning.  For me this means that as an educator, I constantly learn from and with students while also learning about myself.

4 Guiding Principles

  • Learners are storied beings, who bring their stories into the learning space.

  • Storytelling is a significant teaching-learning practice.

  • Learning requires curiosity, courage, and willingness for surprise

  • Participate, play, and practice
